Sick AFS60/AFM60 EtherNet/IP single and multiturn encoders

08 May, 2012

Sick has extended its AFS60/AFM60 EtherNet/IP family of products with single and multiturn absolute encoders that are claimed to offer flexibility combined with fieldbus connectivity.

Balluff Micropulse TA12 explosion-proof linear position transducer

13 April, 2012

Balluff’s Micropulse TA12 explosion-proof linear position transducer now has IECEx hazardous area approval rating, in addition to existing ATEX and North American approvals.

Motrona LW 217 and LW 218 optical fibre modules

29 March, 2012

Motrona of Germany has developed two optical fibre links: the LW 217 and LW 218. One designed for use with incremental encoders and the second for SSI serial output signals with either 13 or 24 bits. Motrona claims these links provide an interference-free transmission of the data up to a distance of 1500 m.

Elap Mem-Bus absolute encoders

20 March, 2012

Elap Mem-Bus absolute encoders are available with direct interface for either a CANopen or Profibus network.

Posital Profinet I/O encoders

16 December, 2011 by

Posital has introduced improved Profinet I/O encoders which, according to the V4 profile, support IRT, RT and NRT data transfer (isochronous real-time/real-time/non-real-time). The revised encoders feature an Ertec200-based platform and reach cycle times as low as 1 ms (IRT) and 10 ms (RT). They are parameterised via the control system and configuration is facilitated by a GSDML device file.

AMCI NR25 series encoders with Modbus/TCP and EtherNet/IP

15 November, 2011 by

The AMCI NR25 series encoders now provide support for Modbus/TCP as well as EtherNet/IP. These heavy duty rotary sensors provide an overall measuring range of 16 b (single-turn resolution) plus 14 b (number of revolutions), or 30 b in total. Both single- and multiturn versions are available.

Manner Sensortelemetrie non-contact torque flanges

30 September, 2011 by

Torque measuring flanges from Manner Sensortelemetrie can be employed for the measurement of both static and dynamic torques on rotating or stationary shafts and machine flanges. Using the torque and rotation speed parameters, the power flow along a shaft can be directly calculated.

Posital Optocode encoders with SSI interface

14 September, 2011 by

Updated versions of the Posital Optocode encoders with SSI interfaces have been released, which now include support for additional output drivers for incremental signals (RS422/TTL and push-pull/HTL), resolutions of 1024, 2048, 4096, 8192 or 16384 PPR per output, a reference impulse and an extended voltage range covering 4.5 to 30 VDC.

Replacing linear encoders with magnetostrictive sensing

15 July, 2011

Designing with magnetostrictive sensors opens many options. Engineers are increasingly finding that magnetostrictive linear position sensors can replace their linear encoders in applications while improving productivity and reducing cost of ownership.

Eltra single-turn angular position transducer

06 July, 2011 by

The Eltra single-turn angular position transducer provides an analog output proportional to shaft position. The sensing device is an 8- or 12-bit absolute magnetic encoder, and integrated electronics converts the reading into an analog signal of 0-5 V, 0-10 V, 0-20 mA or 4-20 mA.

Hengstler S21 sine wave encoder

12 April, 2011 by

The Hengstler S21 sine wave encoder features a wide operating temperature range of -15 to +120°C and a high limiting frequency.

Camille Bauer angular transducers

25 February, 2011 by

Camille Bauer angular transducers employ highly accurate, absolute-angle measurement techniques based on moving capacitor vane principles. The non-contact measurement method provides very high angular resolution, an inherent absolute measurement of angle and very high reliability.

Parker PROmech precision linear positioner family

25 February, 2011 by
