Posital magnetic absolute non-contact encoder

Posital has released its robust non-contact encoder to replace geared potentiometers. The devices are contact-free recording instruments for angular position and revolution. The encoders have a diameter of 36.5 mm and are available as solid and hollow-shaft versions with industrial analog interfaces that provide current (4-20 mA) and voltage (0-10 V) output. The diagnostic yellow and green LED lights as well as the push-buttons on the encoder make it easy to install and scale.

With absolute multiturn technology, the magnetic encoders continue to record rotations even if no power is supplied and provide the values right after activation. They withstand shock and vibration conditions due to their gearless mechanics and they promise long lifetime through the battery-free design - since batteries are the most common cause of poor durability for such devices.

The magnetic absolute encoders allow for electronic adjustment of the measuring range, enabling users to use the complete output range to record measurements. The units are configured by moving the encoders into the desired end positions, which are then stored in the encoder by means of a teach-in input using the push-buttons. The measured values between these positions are scaled automatically.
