Scalance ethernet switch

25 September, 2009 | Supplied by: Siemens Ltd

The Scalance X308-2M is an industrial-grade, compact gigabit ethernet switch featuring IT functions in addition to its industry functions. The modular, fanless design makes the unit flexible for use in many industrial applications. There are two slots for media modules allowing for various types of fibre-optic ports to be connected.

Deterministic ethernet switching

21 September, 2009 | Supplied by: HARTING Pty Ltd

Harting Technology has developed prototypes of what it calls Fast Track Switching. Fully compatible with standard ethernet, the Fast Track Switch guarantees deterministic data transmission at the field level. This makes it possible to meet high real-time requirements in automation without changing the standard ethernet.

ProSoft Technology has released the 5204SE-MNET-PDPMV1 Modbus TCP to Profibus SE gateway, designed with special features to better support and easily integrate with Schneider Electric Modicon M340 processors.

Determinism in industrial ethernet:
A technology overview — Part 1

16 July, 2009 by Glenn Johnson, Editor

The benefits of using well-established ethernet and internet technologies in industrial plants are too great to ignore, but overcoming the requirement for real-time operation has led to some innovative approaches to how this ubiquitous technology can be used in process plants and factory automation.

Yokogawa systems named among the first Foundation fieldbus hosts

14 July, 2009 | Supplied by: Yokogawa Australia Pty Ltd

Yokogawa’s Stardom and Centum VP control systems are among the first to pass the Fieldbus Foundation’s recently developed Host Profile Registration Program.

Fieldbus high-density power hub

25 June, 2009 | Supplied by: Pepperl+Fuchs (Aust) Pty Ltd

The FieldConnex fieldbus high-density power hub offers compact dimensions and needs only limited space inside the switching cabinet. Optimised circuits with low power loss result in cooler thermal conditions, which allow the positioning of the board in any direction. In comparison with the previous model, the available power supply current has increased from 360 to 500 mA per fieldbus segment.
