Factory automation vision appliance

The VA40 factory automation vision appliance provides end-users and system integrators with a high performance, easy-to-use, compact machine vision system for single or multiple camera inspections. iPD has developed their vision appliances with the two primary vision requirements in mind: power and ease of use. They offer flexibility, speed and choice of camera to match your application needs.

The VA40 provides multiple camera inputs that allow you to inspect different views of the same part, or even different parts, simultaneously. This integrated functionality provides a cost-effective and less complex solution than comparable smart camera implementations. In addition, the unit is compatible with different camera types that afford you flexibility in design and upgrade options as your application needs change.

Interfacing the VA40 for factory automation is easy. The unit is fully equipped with industrial grade inputs and outputs that are broken out to removable screw terminal connectors or opto-isolation modules. Serial communication options include RS-232, USB and Ethernet for connecting into the factory network. All physical connections are located on the VA40 rear panel with status lights available on the front.

Application setup software is pre-installed and ready to run, thus eliminating installation and revision control problems. The VA40 offers two distinct imaging software interfaces: iNspect and Sherlock. Both software options offer a fast development cycle, reduction of development costs and improved time-to-market. iNspect provides application versatility and ease of use, allowing you to setup and deploy a vision solution in a matter of minutes. For more complex imaging tasks, Sherlock, while still fast and easy to use, provides even greater flexibility and control, giving you the tools and capabilities at your fingertips to apply to almost any application. An additional benefit of the VA40 is that it supports 3rd party imaging software. This enables you to use the VA40 to control other devices associated with the application.

Key features:

  • Multiple camera inspections
  • Imaging software pre-installed
  • Powerful embedded processor ensures fast inspection times
  • Rugged system for online or offline inspection
  • Choice of camera type and resolution
  • Integrates well into factory environments
  • Universal solution for end-users, integrators and machine builders

This vision system is available in two versions, differentiated by performance and suitable for a range of factory automation tasks. The VA40 version accepts up to four camera inputs, while the VA41 can accommodate six. The VA41 has also 3x processing performance. All imaging software is available on both versions.
