Turck BIxR-W20 series inductive ring sensors with IO-Link
Turck has expanded its sensor portfolio with a new range of inductive IO-Link ring sensors designed for the reliable detection of small metal parts. The BIxR-W20 series is engineered to address common sensing challenges in feeding systems, conveyor applications and machining centres, offering a standardised, IO-Link-enabled alternative to conventional sensors with fixed functionality.
Available in eight ring diameters from 6–50 mm, the BIxR-W20 sensors can be configured for sensitivity, switching logic, output type and either static or dynamic operating modes. Configuration can be carried out via IO-Link or a teach adapter, providing flexibility during commissioning and operation.
Beyond process data, the sensors deliver extensive diagnostic information, including operating hours, switching cycles and temperature monitoring. This data supports condition monitoring initiatives and enables predictive maintenance strategies, helping manufacturers improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
Typical applications include feeding systems for automated screwdriving machines, part counting and sorting on conveyor systems, as well as wire breakage and jam detection. In dynamic operating mode, the sensors can detect very small, fast-moving metal components, with adjustable pulse lengths and high repeatability.
