METTLER TOLEDO's IND700 and ProWorks Studio bring adaptable weighing control to production facilities
Manufacturers across Australia are under increasing pressure to improve productivity, maintain product quality and demonstrate accurate, traceable production data. At the same time, weighing systems must integrate with existing plant infrastructure, withstand demanding operating environments and adapt as processes change.
The METTLER TOLEDO IND700 weighing indicator is designed to address these requirements. Combining multi-scale weighing, industrial connectivity and an intuitive touchscreen interface, IND700 provides a flexible platform for applications ranging from manual filling and piece counting to silo, hopper and vehicle weighing.
With ProWorks software options, users can select ready-to-use weighing applications or develop a customised operator experience using ProWorks Studio. This helps Australian manufacturers configure a solution around their standard operating procedures (SOPs), rather than redesigning their processes to suit fixed equipment functionality.
One indicator, multiple weighing systems
IND700 supports a broad range of METTLER TOLEDO weighing technologies, including analog and digital POWERCELL® systems. Depending on the configuration and weighing technology, the indicator can manage up to four weighing systems, with the option to operate as a sum scale.
This multi-scale capability can help simplify installations where several weighing points need to be monitored from a single interface. It is suited to applications such as:
- bench and floor scale weighing
- tank, hopper and silo weighing
- manual material dispensing
- product classification and checkweighing
- piece counting and packaging operations
- weighbridge and axle weighing
For Australian sites, this flexibility can support both new installations and upgrades to existing weighing equipment. IND700 also provides connectivity with PLC and IT systems through EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Profibus DP and OPC UA, as well as METTLER TOLEDO’s Standard Automation Interface (SAI) protocol.
This enables weighing data to be shared with automation, manufacturing execution system (MES) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) environments, improving visibility across production and materials handling operations.
Designed for demanding production environments
Available in hygienic and panel formats as well as harsh environment configurations, the IND700 is built to suit a range of industrial applications. Its Type 304 stainless steel enclosure and IP69-rated protection help it withstand intensive washdown conditions, making it appropriate for areas where hygiene, moisture and contamination control are important.
The 7-inch and 12-inch colour touchscreen displays provide clear, highly visible information for operators. The interface supports glove operation and familiar controls, helping reduce training time and operator errors.
Customisable views, assignable softkeys and colourWeight® visual alerts allow key process information to be displayed clearly. Operators can identify weighing results and process tolerance conditions at a glance, supporting faster and more consistent manual operations.
ProWorks Studio: configure the application to fit the process
Every production site has its own workflows, approval steps and data requirements. ProWorks Studio gives users the tools to tailor applications to these individual needs.
ProWorks applications can support processes including smart manual filling, product classification, multi-zone checkweighing, piece counting and multi-scale weighing. Material parameters, target values, tolerances and operating instructions can be configured to reflect site-specific requirements. These configurations can help improve consistency, minimise giveaway and reduce the risk of rework.

Data integrity and audit readiness
Accurate weighing is only part of the production challenge. Manufacturers must also be able to demonstrate what happened, when it happened and who performed each action.
The ProWorks Data Integrity option supports attributable and traceable records by recording user information, timestamps, transactions, system changes and calibration activity. User accounts and permissions can be configured for different roles, while electronic signatures help control approvals.
IND700 supports network time synchronisation and uses SHA-256 hash chain encryption to help protect records from unauthorised alteration. Transaction data and reports can be exported in formats such as XML and CSV, or accessed through METTLER TOLEDO software and connected systems.
These capabilities can assist Australian production facilities with internal quality systems, customer requirements and audit preparation.
Supporting productivity from the plant floor to the enterprise
By combining robust industrial hardware, scalable software and open connectivity, IND700 offers a practical way to modernise weighing operations. ProWorks Studio adds the flexibility to match the indicator to individual production workflows, helping businesses improve usability without compromising integration or data management.
For Australian manufacturers seeking a connected industrial weighing indicator for filling, counting, batching, process control or vehicle weighing, IND700 combined with ProWorks Studio provides a configurable foundation for more efficient and traceable operations.
