Phoenix Contact RJ45 patch cable for Profinet

Friday, 30 September, 2011 | Supplied by: Phoenix Contact Pty Ltd

Phoenix Contact has developed an RJ45 crimp connector for Profinet. Profinet cables with conductor cross-sections of AWG 22 can be used as preassembled patch cables when using this connector.

Previously it was only possible to terminate ethernet leads using an RJ45 plug connector with insulation displacement connection, because crimp connectors have been designed for the office environment where cable cross-sections in the range of AWG26 are used. Profinet cabling requires AWG22 or 0.34 mm².

The crimp connector is available in an angled version to address special installation requirements. The corresponding patch cables for applications involving SERCOS III or EtherCAT are comparable. These only differ by sheath colour or marking on the corresponding cable.
