Siemens Sinamics G drives

Siemens has released a new generation of Sinamics G drives for continuous motion applications. The platform covers a range of power and application requirements while offering a consistent approach to engineering and operation. The new generation is built around three core principles of security by design, integrated safety functions and digitalisation.

The drives have been made EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA)-ready and provide integrated cybersecurity capabilities up to Security Level Capability 2 (SL-C 2) as defined in IEC 62443-4-2. Integrated safety functions up to SIL3 provide a high level of functional safety for the protection of people, machines and plants. At the same time, the drives combine digital integration with ease of use. Integration into the Siemens TIA Portal simplifies selection, engineering, commissioning, diagnostics and service. Users benefit from shorter engineering times, reduced training requirements and faster standardisation across different machine platforms. Through the Ethernet-based OPC UA communication standard, drive and operational data can be utilised efficiently for asset and energy management, condition monitoring and predictive maintenance applications.

The latest Sinamics G200 addresses general-purpose industrial applications, while the Sinamics G210C has been specifically designed for compact machines with high requirements for power density and overload capability. As a versatile general-purpose drive, the Sinamics G210 covers a broad range of moving, positioning and processing applications, while the Sinamics G210X extends this flexibility with dedicated functions for pump, fan, compressor and other infrastructure applications.
