SEW-Eurodrive has extended its X-Series of industrial gear-units. Comprising 15 models — each with a different torque-rating — the SEW-Eurodrive X-Series allows users to closely match an X-Series gear-unit to their application. The X-Series features helical and helical-bevel gear technologies, which deliver torques from 58,000 to 475,000 Nm.

The entire X-Series is offered in a range of mounting arrangements, configuration options and user-specific requirements, making it suited to the manufacturing industry. Specific industrial applications include conveyor systems, agitators and mixers, shredders and crushers, and in traction and hoist drive systems.

By providing more models with finer torque-graduation, the X-Series allows users to select a model more closely matched to their needs. Users are therefore able to make savings in space, capital expenditure, operating costs and in the structural supports that would otherwise be required for heavier units.

The X-Series includes a housing design that allows the gear-units to be inverted to produce a mirror-image gearbox. Facilities can use a single spare to replace both left- and right-hand drive gear-units, reducing the number of complete gear-unit spares needed to be kept on site. The larger units in the range have also been designed with a horizontal-split gear-unit housing. Regardless of which way up the unit is orientated, the upper housing can be lifted off to allow for ease of servicing.

The range has a modular design and is assembled from a range of standard components, which results in fewer spares being required to be held by a user to cover the entire range of gearboxes they have on site.
