FDT2 workshop completes 26 DTMS in under two days
Attendees at the FDT2 Developers’ Workshop completed 26 DTMs in under two days. The workshop, held in Seligenstadt, Germany, centred around the use of the FDT2 DTM Common Components that provide nearly all of the functionality to develop FDT2-compliant products.
“The workshop results make it clear that the FDT2 Common Components will greatly speed up the time to market for FDT2 DTM and products,” said Manfred Brill from Schneider Electric. “Vendors also get a much greater level of compliance with the FDT2 standard and therefore better interoperability due to the extensive testing coverage that has gone into the FDT2 Common Components.”
The 26 participants each developed a functioning FDT2 DTM at the workshop, which FDT Group says demonstrates the ease of developing DTMs. The Group plans to run more workshops in Europe and India in the coming months.
CodeWrights led the workshop, which was attended by companies such as Hilscher, ifak system, Invensys, Krohne, Omron, Phoenix Contact, Rockwell Automation, Schneider Electric, Sick, Turck and Weidmüller.
The FDT Group developed the FDT2 DTM Common Components in 2011 in anticipation of the 2012 release of the new FDT2 standard. Twenty FDT Group member companies provided technical expertise and testing. The FDT2 Common Components are available for license to all interested companies; email the FDT Group for more details.
