T-connector for vacuum switches

29 September, 2009 by

The T-connector is an IP65 classified pre-wired connector where two or more electro-mechanical switches, VS4128, are serially connected to provide one common output.

SMC rotary joints

21 September, 2009

With the current trend for automation systems to include operations involving rotation and horizontal transfer, SMC Pneumatics has added the MQR16 option to its range of low torque, metal seal type, MQR rotary joints.

Instrumentation and servo motor shaft couplings

19 August, 2009

PCA has extended its range of NBK instrumentation and servo motor shaft couplings manufactured and includes a wide variety of coupling principles, Oldham, Bellows, Slit and disk formats and construction materials of bronze, aluminium, rubber and stainless steel, to list a few.

Australian pneumatic systems for world’s largest fish oil manufacturer

08 July, 2009

An Australian-manufactured, tough, light and recyclable pneumatic reticulation system has been selected for use in a 100% plant expansion for the largest fish oil manufacturer in the world.

Abrasion-resistant tube

14 March, 2009 by

SMC Pneumatics has released an abrasion resistant tube for use in areas where movement of the tube can be expected. The TUZ range of tube is designed to withstand abrasion that comes from tube flexing and movement especially within a flexible cable train environment.

Innovative fluid connectors simplify construction of state-of-the-art compressor seal testing line

20 January, 2009

Parker Instrumentation’s fluid connector, Phastite, has simplified the construction of a state-of-the-art facility for testing dry gas compressor seals at John Crane’s new turbomachinery facility in Slough, UK. The connector’s combination of high-pressure operation and push-fit assembly has allowed the company to make considerable time savings compared with a system built using the conventional options of cone-and-thread and welded tube connections.

Efficient use of compressed air

15 October, 2008 by Bill Blyth*

Compressed air is often the highest energy cost for many businesses, but unfortunately this resource is often seen as unlimited. It is, therefore, important that this valuable energy source be utilised efficiently, in all processes, at all times.

Rotary air couplings

05 October, 2008

With the current trend for automation systems to include operations involving rotary transfer of air and fluids, SMC Pneumatics has addressed the problems of tube rotation with its range of MQR rotary joints.

Fluid connectors

08 August, 2008

SMC has released a range of nickel-plated brass fittings. The KQB nickel-plated brass fitting has a 304 stainless steel release collar with a high-temperature rating.

Environmentally safe hydraulic oils - Part 2

19 March, 2008 by Glenn Johnson, Editor

In Part 1 of our story last month, we looked at the desirable features of a non-petroleum-based hydraulic fluid. This month we continue by looking at the advantages and disadvantages of hydraulic fluids based on vegetable oils

Environmentally safe hydraulic oils - Part 1

20 February, 2008 by Glenn Johnson, Editor

Spills of standard, petroleum-based hydraulic fluids are known to kill marine life and contaminate soil. Environmentally safe hydraulic fluids are formulated to avoid these undesirable results
