Posital ACS II series inclinometers

10 January, 2011 by

Posital has extended its range of inclinometers based on MEMS technology with the ACS II series. The devices have shock resistance up to 100g and vibration resistance up to 10g. Their IP69K protection means that they are suited for rugged environments, since they resist high-pressure cleaning and can be installed in mobile machines, and they are designed for a wide temperature range (-40 to +85°C).

Gefran ONP1-A magnetostrictive linear position sensor

20 December, 2010 by

The Gefran ONP1-A contactless magnetostrictive linear position sensor consists of an alloy body containing the sensor and all electronics to produce 4-20 mA proportional to the position of a magnet along the body. The magnet can be mounted on a separate mechanical part, or on a sliding carriage that moves on tracks on the alloy body. Power supply is 24 VDC ±20%.

Leuze electronic AMS 300i laser distance measurement sensor

17 December, 2010 by

In addition to an SSI interface and the conventional RS interfaces, the AMS 300i laser distance measurement devices from Leuze electronic provide fieldbus communication via their compact M12 connector. This includes Profinet and Profibus as well as EtherNet/IP, DeviceNET, CANopen, EtherCAT and Ethernet TCP/IO or Interbus.

Analog distance measurement with photoelectric sensors

26 November, 2010

This article discusses two powerful distance measurement photoelectric sensor technologies: triangulation and time-of-flight.

Turck PS300 series hydraulic pressure sensors

29 October, 2010 by

The PS300 series pressure sensors for hydraulic applications feature a rugged, IP69K-rated design to withstand harsh environments. The sensors provide a wide measuring range, from 3 to 400 bar. Signals are directly processed on its pressure measuring cell, and then digitally transferred to the sensor’s fully potted, self-contained display. This design offers a high level of EMC resistance and switch point accuracy of 0.5% of full scale.

Leuze electronic HRTL 96B ‘multi-talent’ laser light scanner

14 October, 2010 by

The HRTL 96B ‘multi-talent’ laser light scanner from Leuze electronic is designed for horizontal positioning, overshoot control, safeguarding the operation of cranes, and compartment occupation checks in intralogistics systems.

Advanced Telemetrics ATI 2100H series telemetry system

14 October, 2010 by

The 2100H series high bandwidth telemetry system from Advanced Telemetrics International, provides a high bandwidth link from sensors mounted on rotating shafts, reciprocating rods or other moving machinery to stationary data acquisition and display instruments.

Leuze electronic HRTU 412 and HRTU 420 ultrasonic scanning scanners

20 September, 2010 by

The HRTU 412 and HRTU 420 from Leuze electronic are retro-reflective ultrasonic scanners with extremely short response times. They have three different sound lobes with narrow, normal and wide opening angles. The narrow sound lobes in particular permit the detection of the smallest of objects or the detection through small apertures at short response times of 10 ms. The switching behaviour is largely independent of the surface of the sound-reflecting materials.

Leuze electronic KRT 3B series contrast scanners

20 September, 2010 by

The KRT 3B series contrast scanners from Leuze electronic distinguish between greyscale values, enabling them to detect minimal contrast. As a result, a check can be performed for the presence of text or imprints or so-called marks detected. All three transmitter models - RGB light, white light and laser light - are available in a small construction. In addition to the standard design, the sensors are also available in stainless steel, in the Wash-Down and Hygiene designs.

Leuze electronic Series 53 and 55 washable optoelectronic sensors

20 September, 2010 by

The Wash-Down and Hygiene design sensor series from Leuze electronic are designed for frequent and intensive cleaning and disinfection cycles.

Turck BIM-UNR sensors with NPN output

17 September, 2010 by

The BIM-UNR magnetic cylinder position sensor range has been expanded to include sensors with NPN outputs.

Diffuse optical scanning sensors - Part 2

03 September, 2010

In Part 1 of this article, we discussed the general technology behind diffuse optical scanning sensors, and some of the challenges in their application. In this part we look at how different techniques of background suppression are applied.

National Instruments PXIe-4844 optical sensor interrogator

31 August, 2010 by

The NI PXIe-4844 optical sensor interrogator is a two-slot 3U PXI Express module for fibre Bragg grating (FBG) sensors. FBG sensors operate by reflecting a wavelength of light that corresponds to changes in physical phenomena such as strain and temperature.

Siemens Sitrans WS300 shaft-driven speed sensor

17 August, 2010 by

The Sitrans WS300 is a shaft-driven speed sensor with four resolutions (32, 256, 1000 and 2000 pulses per revolution) so that it can be used to accurately monitor speed in both low- and high-speed applications.

Leuze electronic LRS 36 and LPS 36 light-section profile sensors

17 August, 2010 by

The LRS 36 and LPS 36 light-section profile sensors from Leuze electronic are designed for economical object detection over long measurement ranges from 200 to 800 mm. The transmitters and receivers are contained in one easy-to-install unit with a compact but robust housing design.
