ABB ArcPack robotic welding package

25 February, 2011 by

The ArcPack robotic welding package is designed to offer high-quality welds with minimum downtime. The package includes ABB’s fifth-generation IRC5 controller, the touch-screen interface FlexPendant, RobotWare Arc programming software and an IRB1410 industrial robot to deliver an integrated solution for arc welding. The package is also provided with the company’s RPC welding power source suited for metal inert gas (MIG) and metal active gas (MAG) welding automation.

Robots improve safety at abattoir

20 October, 2010

Meat processing is a labour-intensive, hands-on industry that requires extensive safety protocols to protect the health and safety of operators - not to mention the health and safety of consumers.

ABB USB disk drive replacement kit for robot controllers S4 to S4C

17 September, 2010 by

ABB has introduced a USB disk drive replacement kit for its robot controllers models S4 to S4C. The kit is a package upgrade solution that replaces existing and often unreliable, hard to source floppy disk drive unit, and disks with a USB connection point. The kit lets users transfer all their stored programs and data to a standard USB memory stick and also provides a connection point for a PC.

Automated slaughter line for salmon

16 July, 2010

Norway is now operating the first salmon slaughter line in the world to use automatic bleeding based on machine vision and robot technology. The innovation makes for more rational operation, says the system’s pilot operator.

Frontline benefits from ABB’s robotic technology

05 June, 2010

Producing perfect aluminium welds and eliminating harmful dust during polishing operations has been achieved by the acquisition of a series of CSF (Complete Surface Finishing) robotic solutions at Frontline Australasia at its plant in outer south-east Melbourne.

Robotic powder coating improves efficiency at Electrolux

12 March, 2010

Every second of every day in any year around the world, Electrolux sells two of its products. This requires state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, such as the fully automated and flexible powder-coating facility for oven and grill cavities recently installed at Electrolux’s manufacturing plant in Dudley Park, South Australia.

Robotic automation enabling SMEs to compete on global market

05 March, 2010

Industrial robots, once the preserve of large-scale manufacturers, are increasingly being seen in small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Sticky fingers? Tiny robots to grip nanotubes

25 February, 2010

How do you handle the tiny components needed for constructing nanoscale devices? A European consortium has built two demonstrators that include microrobots equipped with microgrippers to automatically pick up and install carbon nanotubes thousands of times thinner than a human hair. They have even tackled that ever-present bane of nanotechnology - sticky fingers.

National Instruments LabVIEW Robotics 2009
