Quad-core embedded controller

11 May, 2009 by

The NI PXI-8110 is a 3U quad-core embedded controller for PXI systems. Featuring a 2.26 GHz Intel Core2 Quad processor Q9100, up to 4 GB of 800 MHz DDR2 RAM and a high-performance 7200 rpm drive, the PXI-8110 provides an up to 80% performance improvement over dual-core controllers with similar CPU clock frequencies for applications that are optimised to use the controller’s four processing cores.

Combined PLC and HMI

11 May, 2009 by

The Unitronics’ Jazz is a PLC that includes onboard I/Os plus a full-function operator panel with numeric keypad. It enables users to replace ‘smart relays’ with a smarter, more powerful device, while keeping the same low budget.

Micro PLCs

01 April, 2009 by

Omron Electronics has increased their offering of micro PLCs by adding both 10 and 60 I/O CPUs to the CP1L range. Also, all six CPU types are now available with AC power source and transistor (NPN) output, offering additional flexibility to customers.

PLC data access module

01 April, 2009 by

Omron Electronics has released the Data Access Module (DAM01) — a small user interface for its micro PLC range. Fitting neatly into a communication board slot, the DAM01 empowers the user with knowledge of the process the PLC is controlling.

Parallel actuator controller

01 April, 2009 by

The TR-EM-239 parallel controller is designed to drive two actuators in parallel. It is suitable for 12-24 VDC motors each with a maximum of 10 A capacity and in applications where parallel movement is required — for example, across a bench, hatch, door, slide, transfer, directional guide or conveyor line.

Scalable mobile control system

01 April, 2009

The Scalable Mobile Control System from Hirschmann Automation and Control can be used for controlling and monitoring machine functions as well as for safe load indicator. The product family includes controls from the iFLEX series and the iSCOUT operating consoles. The modular concept also ensures that each solution can be adapted economically at any time to changed requirements.

Trio differential pressure transmitter

01 April, 2009

The Trio MC464 can support up to 64 axes of motion in a unit the size of a small book. The MC464’s digital drive interface provides a plug-and-play connection between the motion controller and various digital drives. This significantly reduces wiring while providing a much higher axis count compared to what is available in comparable motion controllers.

Extended automation system

13 March, 2009 by

ABB’s Extended Automation System 800xA is designed to provide a platform for unified operations to increase productivity and power reliability for process manufacturers in all industries. The combination of these systems into one yields significant savings for users in terms of costs and manpower.

4-port RS232 module

12 March, 2009 by

Advantech has launched the ADAM-5091 module equipped with four RS232 ports, making it especially suitable for bi-directional communication. The ADAM-5091 can simultaneously read data from other third-party devices such as a modem, bar code reader or PLC, as long as these devices are equipped with an RS232 interface.

Controller

12 March, 2009 by

Rockwell Automation has launched the Allen-Bradley CompactLogix L23 controller. The latest addition to the CompactLogix family of controllers extends the functionality and flexibility of Rockwell Automation’s Logix control platform to small machine-level control applications.

PLCOpen-certified PAC platform

12 March, 2009 by

GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms has announced that it has received certificates of compliance from PLCopen, the independent organisation that focuses on the harmonisation of control programming around IEC 61131-2. PLCopen represents various industries and seeks to drive more efficiency in industrial automation through creating specifications and implementations in engineering programming language. GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms fulfilled the requirements of the PLCopen Compliance Procedure for Motion Control Library V. 1.1 and PLCopen Compliance Procedure for Motion Control Part 2 — Extensions, Version 1.0.

Embedded controller

01 December, 2008

The Simatic S7-mEC embedded controller is a turnkey automation solution, integrating both HMI and a software controller. As no software has to be installed during commissioning, the device is easy to configure and program.

Programmable logic controller

12 November, 2008

The Click PLC is the first of a range of inexpensive PLC components designed to offer practical features in an easy-to-use, compact yet expandable design. This line of micro-brick PLCs with stackable I/O modules and free programming software is suitable for first-time users as well as experienced programmers.
