AC drive delivers more options
19 August, 2009The Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 755 AC drive from Rockwell Automation has a range of sophisticated features, which the company says allows it to deliver more options for intelligent motor control and integration flexibility than any other drive in its class.
Current switches
30 July, 2009Dwyer Instruments has released the series SCS current switch, suitable for monitoring whether fans, pumps, or motors are operating.
VLT low harmonic drives
30 July, 2009The VLT Aqua Drive, VLT Automation Drive and VLT HVAC Drive are now available in a low harmonic version. The VLT low harmonic drive reduces the harmonic distortion and load on the supply network by actively imposing currents in counter phase, so that the high-quality sine wave of the network current is restored.
Low harmonic drives
30 July, 2009Danfoss Drives claims to have launched the first mass-produced VLT low harmonic drive. The drive eliminates the harmonic disturbances on the supply grid by actively imposing currents into the grid so that the high-quality sine wave of the grid current is maintained.
Pump and fan drive
25 June, 2009 byABB has announced a low-voltage AC drive, specifically targeted at pump and fan applications ranging from 0.37 to 22 kW. Built-in PID controllers are used to vary the drive’s performance in response to changes in pressure, flow or other external data, modifying the performance according to the needs of the application. This can eliminate the need for an external PLC and helps to save energy.
Variable speed drives
09 June, 2009 byNHP carries stock of the Santerno range of variable speed drives, which includes the Sinus Nano, Micro and Penta drives.
Medium voltage industrial variable speed drives
18 May, 2009 by WEG AustraliaThis tech paper presents different technologies and topologies of medium-voltage (MV) drives available on the market. The paper describes the advantages and disadvantages of each configuration and the impact in the quality of energy in the mains and motor sides when using them is also analysed.
Drive
18 May, 2009 byRepresenting the first drive from the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 750 series, the PowerFlex 755 AC drive is available in power ranges from 7.5 to 250 kW at 400/480 VAC and 540/650 VDC input. It supports multiple languages, meets global standards and certifications, and is suitable for many industries, including manufacturing, food and beverage, water/wastewater, materials handling, metals, mining and automotive.
Save energy and achieve greater control with variable speed drives
17 May, 2009 by Glenn JohnsonIn today’s climate of rising energy costs and carbon trading schemes, any technology which helps plants use energy more efficiently should be adopted. Variable speed drives offer the ability to control the speed and torque of motors in many applications while providing significant energy savings — but only if implemented correctly in the right application.
Soft starters
11 May, 2009 byThe VLT Soft Starter MCD 500 is a motor starting solution with advanced start, stop and protection features, adaptive acceleration control (AAC), built-in delta connections, a 4-line graphical display and multiple programming set-up menus.
