The Helmholz TB20 distributed I/O system is designed to offer compact, modular functionality and flexibility. Communications bus couplers support common industrial networks including CANopen, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, Profibus DP and Profinet. The bus coupler also supports connections up to 64 modules per system.
Modules have three components: a separate front connector with spring-type terminals, an electronics module and a base module, purchased as one unit. Modules are hot swappable — allowing continuous production — and rotary coded to provide secure module replacement. Wiring can be reduced using voltage or ground system modules.
Modules are generally 2-, 4-, 8- or 16-bit and include digital AC/DC inputs and outputs, as well as relay and mixed modules. Analog modules provide inputs of 12/16 bits plus RTD and thermocouple modules, as well as 12-bit outputs. Analog modules support 0/4–20 mA, ±10 V, 0–10 V, 1–5 V, ±24 V, 0–24 V, ±100 V and 0–100 V. Other available modules include high-speed counters up to 4 MHz, an SSI encoder interface, energy meters up to 5 A, and strain gauge weighing modules.
The TB20 Toolbox software allows smart design, configuration and diagnostics. Simulation can be used for commissioning the I/O system without a higher-level controller or bus connection.
