Sick ColorRanger E 3D and colour camera

Friday, 09 September, 2011 | Supplied by: SICK Pty Ltd

Sick has introduced a high-speed 3D camera with high-quality colour capability. By measuring both the 3D shape and the colour of parts, more reliable decisions can be made to allow production plants to improve their up-time, throughput, and product quality. The ColorRanger E replaces the need for several different cameras for the same task, which reduces the solution cost and complexity.

3D imaging is ideal where height, shape, or volume is of importance for the production process. However, to make a complete quality or grading decision, it is often necessary to also consider the colour of the parts produced. This is common in the grading of fruits and vegetables, shape and baking degree verification of baked goods, board grading in the wood industry, quality assurance of electronic assemblies and fill level and colour verification in cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries.

ColorRanger E is the newest member of Sick’s Ranger product line which now spans from the low-cost Ranger D for mid-speed 3D applications, via the high-speed Ranger E with MultiScan technology, up to the ColorRanger E for 3D and colour.

The ColorRanger E provides RGB colour and monochrome (with or without IR) up to 3072 pixels resolution in colour and 1536 pixels in 3D. It has on-chip colour channel white balancing, spatially corrected colour output and a Gigabit Ethernet interface.
