The HRTL 96B ‘multi-talent’ laser light scanner from Leuze electronic is designed for horizontal positioning, overshoot control, safeguarding the operation of cranes, and compartment occupation checks in intralogistics systems.

The scanner is designed for positioning tasks and reliable object detection. It can be mounted on high-bay storage devices for safely positioning pallets on shelf racks in automatically operated, single-, double- or multi-depth storage systems. With its good black/white detection thresholds, the scanner can determine whether a compartment is occupied.

It works on the principle of pulse propagation time measurement. It is therefore resistant to interference from other light sources, far and near interfering contours, rounded shelf edges and different surface colours or materials - such as reflecting pallet foils and different, dynamic backgrounds, like passing storage and retrieval units for high-bay warehouses. With a large detection range from 50 to 6000 mm, the scanner replaces the complex, mechanical overshoot controls on the shelves by inspecting the position of the pallet in the shelf compartment and its protrusion during the bring/fetch process.

The scanner is fast response and has short response times (<5 ms) and high switching frequencies (100 Hz). Measuring 30 x 90 x 70 mm, it is small and can be used in space-limited areas.

The scanner features two independent switching points that can be taught via a reference value at the touch of a button. The robust metal housing enables use in dusty environments, such as those encountered in wood processing, and at ambient temperatures from -30 to +50°C.
