Capacitive sensors

Thursday, 30 July, 2009 | Supplied by: ifm efector pty ltd

The KQ capacitive sensors from ifm efector have been optimised for the detection of conductive media through non-metallic vessel walls.

This small sensor supports NO and NC functions that can be programmed by pressing two buttons, and an auto-detect output function that allows the devices to detect PNP or NPN output loads automatically.

The user only needs to press one button for the adjustment to the medium and the setting of the NO or NC output function. This facilitates configuration as well as set-up of different evaluation systems.

The capacitive sensors are easy and fast to mount, using fastening strips and optional accessories. They reliably detect bulk materials or liquids, and typical applications are the detection of minimum levels, leakage or overfilling of tanks.

The units are designed for non-flush installation and have a sensing range of 8 mm. An LED integrated into the sensor housing indicates the switching status. The operating voltage is between 10 and 36 V DC.
