ASM Positape WB17KT series stainless steel tape sensors
The ASM Positape WB17KT series of stainless steel tape sensors provide measurement ranges of 3500, 6500 and 10000 mm. They are robust sensors featuring a long service life and a compact housing specifically designed for rugged and harsh environments.
Typical cable sensors use a flexible, stainless steel cable that is wound with a single layer around a cable drum. This drum is coupled to an angular sensing device such as a potentiometer or encoder for an electrical output signal.
The series replaces the measurement cable with a thin, highly flexible stainless steel band. Advantages of this technology are the ability to have a long measurement range in a relatively compact housing, the virtually unlimited life of the metal tape, and its suitability for the use in confined locations where pulleys must be used.
The sensors are available with analog 0-10 V, 4-20 mA or 1 kΩ outputs and also with either absolute digital SSI or CANbus outputs. Electrical connection can be made with either a M12 or D8 connector.
