Pilz has introduced two updated models to the PSENradar range: the PSEN rd1.2 F-FOV and PSEN rd1.2 F-FOV LR sensors.

Leveraging FMCW radar technology operating at 24 GHz, PSENradar is designed to provide high availability even where optoelectronic sensors fail. This makes it a suitable solution for challenging applications like outdoor installations or material processing. With safety ratings up to SIL 2, PL d, and Category 3, PSENradar meets the stringent requirements often found in robotic applications.

In addition to symmetrical viewing angles, the PSEN rd1.2 F-FOV and PSEN rd1.2 F-FOV LR sensors now enable the configuration of asymmetrical and corridor-shaped protection zones. This is helpful in cramped production areas or along busy walkways, allowing for precise monitoring and increased productivity. The long-range PSEN rd1.2 F-FOV LR also extends the operating distance up to 9 m.

Integration is seamless due to a wide array of interfaces including USB, Ethernet, ProfiSafe and EtherCAT FSoE. Broad compatibility allows easy incorporation into existing systems and various fieldbus environments. When combined with the configurable small controller PNOZmulti 2 as an FSoE Master, users can achieve a simple, one-cable safety networking solution in EtherCAT systems, minimising wiring effort.

Beyond the sensors, the complete PSENradar solution includes analysis units that offer advanced configuration capabilities, such as defining up to 32 zone sets and saving configurations to an SD card for easy sensor swapping. It is also possible to define both protection and warning zones to signal potential intrusions and maintain high plant productivity.
