New PROeco II power supplies from Weidmüller: Built for reliability and scale

Keeping industrial systems running smoothly means choosing components that work as hard as you do. When it comes to power supplies, reliability, compatibility, and space-saving design all play a role in reducing downtime and simplifying maintenance. That’s where Weidmüller’s new PROeco II series comes in.

Designed for uptime

Downtime is expensive. That’s why the PROeco II range has been engineered to maintain consistent, reliable output in tough industrial environments. Available in models from 72 W up to 960 W, and in both 24 V and 48 V DC versions, this series offers scalable solutions for a wide range of applications, from small control panels to power-hungry automation systems.

Each unit in the range delivers stable output even in challenging ambient conditions, with operating temperatures spanning from -25°C to +70°C. The robust internal design includes short-circuit, overload, over-voltage, and over-temperature protection as standard, giving maintenance teams peace of mind.

The PROeco II can be run at full rated output up to 55°C, and with slight derating, all the way to 70°C. For installations where reliability isn’t negotiable, like in processing plants, water treatment systems, and remote infrastructure, that’s a significant benefit.

Smart, simple diagnostics

Troubleshooting power issues shouldn’t add complexity. With the PROeco II’s three-colour LED status indicator, technicians can get a quick, visual snapshot of the power supply’s health: no guesswork, no unnecessary downtime.

Each unit also includes a floating relay contact, which can be wired into SCADA or monitoring systems to alert operators when there’s a problem. That means faster fault detection, streamlined maintenance workflows, and fewer surprises on site.

Compact for tight spaces

Modern control cabinets are getting smaller, not bigger. The compact housing of the PROeco II, combined with high efficiency (up to 94.9% depending on the model), ensures that heat is kept low and space is used efficiently.

Widths start from just 32 mm for the 72 W unit and remain impressively compact right through to the 960 W variants. The slimline design makes them a smart choice for retrofit projects or space-constrained panels in field applications.

The housing is metal and corrosion-resistant, offering additional protection and durability, particularly in dusty or humid environments where plastic housings may degrade over time.

Supports a complete system

Power supplies are only one piece of the puzzle. PROeco II is designed to work seamlessly with Weidmüller’s DC UPS systems, electronic circuit breakers (like the ECBM), and diode modules. This lets users design a coordinated power system that’s ready for whatever the site throws at it; power loss, inrush events, or fluctuating loads.

Need redundancy or extra power capacity? Up to three units can be connected in parallel. The adjustable output voltage (22–28 V for 24 V models, and up to 56 V for 48 V models) gives even more flexibility when designing or modifying the setup.

Handles the realities of industrial power

Maintenance teams often face load changes, brownouts, and intermittent faults that can cause headaches with less flexible gear. With fast start-up times (under 1 second), high mains failure hold-up times, and unrestricted capacitive load handling, PROeco II can take on real-world scenarios without missing a beat. Whether it’s keeping critical I/O alive during a brownout or scaling power to new loads in an upgraded panel, this range is built to adapt. Add reverse polarity and short-circuit protection, and you’ve got a power supply that doesn’t just survive, it helps prevent costly downtime.

Reliable specs that match the job

Some key features maintenance engineers will appreciate are:

  • up to 94.9% efficiency (depending on model and input voltage)
  • wide input ranges of 85–264 VAC or 110–370 VDC
  • short-circuit, overload, and over-temperature protection
  • output voltage adjustable via front panel potentiometer
  • vibration and shock tested to IEC 60068 standards

It’s all designed to reduce the likelihood of failure, and if issues do arise, to make diagnosis and resolution faster.

Built for the digital workflow

The PROeco II range integrates into the Weidmüller Configurator (WMC), allowing engineers to plan, design, and simulate their control panels before any hardware is installed. STEP files and detailed CAD drawings are readily available, making integration into a digital workflow easy and accurate.

From early-stage planning to final commissioning, this reduces the chances of wiring mistakes or component clashes, helping keep projects on time and within budget.

Right product, on time

When industrial equipment fails, the costs add up fast. Replacement parts are needed that are ready to go and easy to integrate. PROeco II power supplies are available in Western Australia through Pacific Automation, with local support on hand to help select the right unit for the application.

Whether it’s about upgrading ageing infrastructure or designing a new build, Weidmüller’s PROeco II range offers the right balance of performance, size, and simplicity.
