Phoenix Contact heavy-duty plastic plug connectors
Phoenix Contact has introduced cost-effective plastic versions to complement its range of heavy-duty, die-cast aluminium plug connectors.
All sleeve housings conform to protection category IP68. The sealed, sturdy housings attach directly to the side of the device and can be assembled without a panel mounting base. For assembly, they instead offer mounting flanges that also accommodate the device’s contact support. The connectors are fully compatible with the existing Heavycon Advance connector systems and with industrial standards. When connecting, contact is first made with the standard-compliant protective conductor, guaranteeing safe plugging and operation.
The plug is made from impact-resistant plastic and features an integrated cable gland, but with a cost said to be less than half that of standard aluminium die-cast housings.
