IICA to hold Sydney Technical Evening focused on safety
The Institute of Instrumentation, Control & Automation (IICA) will be holding a Technical Night on the subject of Safety Requirements Specifications in Sydney in July.
Peter Koon, who holds the IICA’s TÜV functional safety courses, will be presenting on the importance of a safety requirements specification to an effective safety program.
He will delve into the following questions:
- Is a safety requirements specification (SRS) merely a bureaucratic exercise, or does it serve a greater purpose?
- Does an SRS merely duplicate information found in other documents? After all, the SIL assessment process already identifies proposed risk controls and allocates SILs.
- How can an SRS add substantial value to a safety program, not just during project delivery but throughout the entire lifespan of the plant?
- Unveiling the intricacies of engineering high-integrity systems: Understanding the potential pitfalls and challenges that may arise.
The Technical Night will be held on Tuesday, 18 July from 6 pm in the St James Room, Mercure Sydney, 818–820 George Street, Sydney.
To secure a spot, those interested are encouraged to pre-register. Admission is free for members, and non-members can attend for a fee of $25 per person.
