Applications open for logistics mentoring program
Expressions of interest are being sought from experienced professional logisticians and junior practitioners in NSW and Victoria to participate as mentors or mentees in the LAA/APICS 2009.
Mentoring helps to ensure that up-and-coming supply chain managers and logisticians develop the right skills. The program, now entering its sixth year, offers mentees an opportunity to talk through the issues they may be facing in their work life and to explore the options available to them in a supportive, non-judgmental environment.
The industry-based logistics chain mentoring program pairs mentees with mentors from different organisations, providing an enhanced learning environment. Opportunities are also provided for participants to meet each other and discuss the issues and challenges they face. This is done through group meetings or site visits.
Mentors attend a half-day training program with a professional mentoring trainer. Mentor training is free to participating mentors who volunteer their time and expertise.
Mentees also attend a half-day induction and training session, ensuring that they understand the mentoring relationship and are able to establish realistic expectations and set clear goals.
The supply chain mentoring program will commence in March 2009, with applications closing mid-February. Visit www.laa.asn.au/mentorprogram.
