The Radiolinx 802.11abg industrial hotspot functions as a wireless access point, repeater or client. It offers high-speed wireless ethernet communications including EtherNet/IP for linking automation systems, video cameras and plant network access for mobile workers. It can connect ethernet devices such as PLCs and operator interfaces while serving as a repeater/bridge for other hotspots, and an access point for wireless clients such as laptops and PDAs.

The radios are equipped with OFDM modulation for high noise immunity, as well as WPA2 (802.11i) AES encryption for high security applications.

The hotspot uses radio-based IGMP snooping/querying to filter multicast Industrial Ethernet, maximising bandwidth. It also uses cryptographic strength security with WPA2/802.11i-128/192/256 bit AES encryption and CCM integrity checking, can limit access to approved device MAC IDs, and is able to monitor the RF environment for approved or rogue radios.

The Radiolinx 802.11abg hotspot comes in a metal enclosure, and is industrial operating temperature, vibration and shock resistant. It has a certification pending for use in hazardous locations (UL1604 Class 1 Div 2, ATEX Zone 2).
