M2M Connectivity has announced an ethernet board for the Wavecom Fastrack Supreme GPRS modem.

The Internal Expansion Socket Module (IESM) ethernet board can be fitted to the Fastrack Supreme to connect remote serial devices to an ethernet network over GPRS.

This IESM ethernet board has a 10BaseT RJ45 interface and expands the functionality of the standard Wavecom Fastrack Supreme to an ethernet device for machine-to-machine applications. The Ethernet/Fastrack Supreme bundle can act as a router or gateway utilising wireless GSM/GPRS to provide primary network connectivity to any ethernet device, or small networks of IP devices.

Other key features of the IESM ethernet board include internet plug-in (WIP 5.0), allowing automatic connection to the internet, DNS support and a DHCP client.

Wavecom also make it possible to expand cellular applications with simple plug-ins for the Fastrack Supreme. The Fastrack Supreme with IESM-Ethernet can use AT plug-ins from the Open AT cellular development environment, which allows embedded standard ANSI C applications to be executed directly on the wireless CPU.
