Valve range

The VS valve range has similar flow characteristics to the older and larger 43 mm ISO Standard, up to 1350 L/min flow can be obtained from a 26 mm width Norgren ISO 15407-standard valve.

The valve range has been developed in Switzerland in both soft seal technology and glandless spool and sleeve.

The glandless spool version is manufactured from hardened alloy that has a teflon coating. The alloy is hardened to 62-70 Rockwell C. The teflon coating protects the valve against moisture and eliminates problems that can be experienced with valves that have not operated for a few days.

The new ISO 15407-2 Standard enables very compact and tidy pre-wired 'Multipole' valve islands to be installed by simply connecting an electrical D connection. The valves are supplied pre-assembled to user specification. Electrical control through the ISO Standard valve bases can be achieved with fieldbus protocols such as ASi DeviceNet and Profibus.

The valve islands can incorporate sandwich flow controls and sandwich pressure controls enabling total control of cylinder and actuator speed and thrust from a central point.

This centralisation of speed and pressure control improves safety by having the control away from the cylinder workplace where injury to personnel could occur.

The benefit for pneumatic users is valves may be replaced with an alternative brand ISO valve that will fit on the ISO standard manifold base.

The additional benefit of ISO valves is the manifold style mounting configuration where a valve can be replaced by simply loosening two or four cap screws (depending on the valve size) and removing the valve. All electrical wiring and fittings remain in place. Replacement of a valve 'in situ' usually only takes 2-3 minutes.
