The Univer rodless cylinder range consists of three series: the S1, S5 and VL. The S1 is the basic rodless cylinder. The S5 series, the mid-range rodless cylinder, has a guided carriage and technopolymer bearings, which are flexible and reduce noise. The VL Series has a guided cylinder with a rigid ball bearing system, which is suitable for heavy-duty/fast applications.

All of the series in the range are available in 25, 32, 40 and 50 mm bore sizes and can be made up to a maximum of 6 m in stroke. The S1 series is also available in the new size of 16 mm bore, which is compact and designed for light loads and high-speed applications.

Univer strip-seal is moulded around a Kevlar cord to provide high axial strength equivalent to 25 mm steel. The system retains dimensional stability even with high translation speeds. The external protection seal consists of a thermoplastic strip seal, which eliminates stretch problems normally associated with conventional rodless cylinders.

No special tools are required to strip down the cylinder for maintenance purposes. The stretch-resistant strip seals can be replaced using a screwdriver to remove retaining clips. As standard, the Univer rodless cylinders are fitted with double lip seals which automatically self-compensate against wear. Also standard are pneumatic adjustable cushions with two regulation screws in each end-cap. This allows for improved regulations of piston deceleration. Mechanical rubber shock absorbers also aid in the reduction of stress and machinery noise.
