Amtex Electronics has launched a 1U rack mounted programmable DC power supply.

Called the Genesys series, it comes in two power levels; 750 and 1500 W. Both are housed in a 1U 19" rack with the 750 W version occupying half-width.

A special feature is that there are no cooling vents on the top or bottom of the cases, thereby allowing several units to be stacked on top of each other with a zero gap. Other features include: a power factor 0.99 is achieved with active power factor correction; continuous universal input voltage from AC85-265 V; worldwide Safety agency approvals CE Mark for LVD, EMC Regulation, UL and EN; high resolution 16 bit ADCs and DACs; no pots are used in the unit, therefore eliminating drift and calibration requirements; built-in RS232 and RS485 interface, and optional GPIB; output up to 600 VDC, current up to 200 A; and software programmable, LabVIEW and LabWindows drivers.

Possible applications include scientific laboratories, industries using lasers, chemical and water industry, ATE equipment, automotive test equipment, aerospace and any other application where high powers are required, but accurately controlled and programmable.
