Grundfos has developed the High Efficiency Motor range which offers benefits such as reduced running costs, improved efficiency, low noise and prolonged bearing life.
The motors are classified as 'High Efficiency' as specified in AS/NZS1359.5 and are able to bring about a reduction in harmful emissions.
The motors are designed to operate at similar efficiencies at either 75% load or 100% load. This is necessary as most motors run at less than 100% load, which makes the efficiency at lower loads very important.
The motors are also quiet. In general, the cooling fan in TEFC motors produces the most noise. However, because of the low energy losses, the cooling fan is smaller and therefore the overall motor is quieter. Also, because the motors are magnetised to a lesser degree the electrical noise is lower.
The winding temperature is designed to be kept low to minimise its resistance. This, in turn, increases the life of the winding insulation.
Low operating temperatures, combined with reduced rotor losses due to reduced slip, contribute to the reduction in bearing temperature and also increase the motor's life.
Because the motors dissipate less heat, they result in lower air conditioning running costs when installed in areas where cooling is necessary.
The motors are available in three-phase and start from 1.1 kW motor size.
