Moog Components Group has released the F04698 optical rotary joint which offers good optical loss performance.

It is compact and features speeds to 100 rpm with both singlemode and multimode fibres. It is designed for use with optical connectors type ST. Applications include security, medical and robotic systems.

The information revolution and the speed of today's digital communications have reached the bandwidth limits of conventional slip ring technology. Optical channels overcome these limits. Optical fibre is a dielectric material, which is not affected by magnetic fields and does not produce fields itself.
