Helmut Pekarek has retired as Managing Director of Siemens Australia and New Zealand after more than six years at the helm during which the company's overall share of the electrical engineering and I&C markets increased significantly.

He will remain as Chairman of the company until September 2003.

During Pekarek's time as Chairman and Managing Director, Siemens' business volume in Australia has grown at twice the market growth rate, according to the company.

Pekarek's successor, Albert Goller, most recently held the position of head of the corporate office for Siemens e-business worldwide. Before that he was President of Siemens Canada for six years. Goller's career with Siemens has given him a background in all major areas of the Siemens business.
