The inaugural Queensland Manufacturing Technology Exhibition (QMAN), to be held this month in Brisbane, will provide professionals working in the manufacturing industry with a unique opportunity to access the latest solutions and technologies across the manufacturing spectrum.

Visitors will be able to watch practical demonstrations of new products and obtain information on recent additions to the marketplace; participate in workshops and symposia; and liaise with relevant industry groups and training bodies.

QMAN, which addresses eight separate industry segments, is the first event of its kind for Queensland. As John Gorton, Exhibition Manager, Reed Exhibitions explains, the umbrella event provides a one-stop shop for today fast paced working environment.

"Through showcasing multiple market segments under the one roof, visitors are able to maximise their time, and gain valuable knowledge to assist their businesses in becoming more competitive, streamlined and automated."

"Exhibitors at QMAN are representative of the most current thinking in the industry and visitors will be impressed by the breadth and diversity of the displays at this inaugural event."

The following provides a snapshot to the diversity of exhibits at QMAN:

dataTaker will release three new products in its range of data loggers. The first, the SMSX dual band GSM/GPRS data modem and mobile is designed to access remote sites without a computer through SMS controlled data acquisition.

The second is the TWM2000, a new water quality and trade waste monitoring system, and the third, a comprehensive instrument driver for LabVIEW 7 Express a software tool for designing, test, measurement and control systems.

Sunlec will display an innovative thermal transfer printer and wiremarking system. The Grafoplast Thermal Transfer Printer provides total flexibility by printing on a wide range of materials including PVC, polyester, ABS and polycarbonate.

The Grafoplast Wiremarking System marks wires, bundles, cables, data cabling, terminal blocks, contactors, relays, PLCs panels and large multicore cables in seconds. Saving up to 60 per cent in application time, the system provides straight-line marking which is always legible.

Millennium Locks will introduce a range of mechanical reprogrammable cylinder locks from Italian manufacturer Rielda. This advanced security patented locking system enables the user to change the key being used without having to replace the locks with the additional benefit of a single key to operate any number of locks.

Another key highlight of QMAN will be the staging of the Instrumentation & Controls Show (QICS) held by the Institute of Instrumentation, Control and Automation Australia (IICA, Qld Division). This biennial event encompasses a three-day exhibition as well as symposia and workshops addressing issues such as environmental monitoring, industrial communications and emerging technologies.

The Welding Technology Institute of Australia (WTIA) will stage its Technology Week at QMAN, incorporating the WTIA annual conference, and SMART Industry Groups and Approved Training Bodies Centres of Excellence meetings.

"The scope of QMAN, with its variety of presentations, workshops and information, make it an accessible, not to be missed opportunity for any professional working in a manufacturing environment," concludes Gorton.
