Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd has formed its new global division, known as Sumitomo Drive Technologies.

The Australian Sumitomo subsidiary, SM-CYCLO (Australia), is part of the new division and has immediately adopted the new name.

Locally the change has resulted in the appointment of Mr Steve Wightman as managing director of the business. With more than 15 years of experience in the supply of industrial machinery (Warman International and Flender Australia), Mr Wightman brings to Sumitomo Drive Technologies considerable understanding of the needs of the Australian market.

"I am very pleased to have joined Sumitomo Drive Technologies at a time when such a positive focus is placed on the business, both nationally and internationally. The new name clearly identifies the core of the division -," stated Mr Wightman.

Sumitomo Drive Technologies is an industry leader in the development of new drive concepts and drive components. The range of gear drives offers the latest toothless technology resulting in reduced wear and tear of parts and mechanical breakdowns.
