Siemens PLM Software has announced its Teamcenter Mobility mobile device application (app) for instantly accessing - from Wi-Fi or mobile broadband-available locations - the information managed by Teamcenter PLM software. Through the use of this app, which is being initially deployed on the iPad portable digital device, companies can enhance their ability to interact with product data and workflows at the right time, in the right place and in the right context to further enhance the speed and accuracy of decisions made throughout a product’s life cycle.

Siemens claims that PLM systems have become a competitive necessity for the global manufacturing community, and in order to effectively leverage the pool of PLM information for faster decision making, it needs to be made more easily available to all stakeholders in the product life-cycle process at the point of activity that decisions are made. Teamcenter Mobility is designed to help make product knowledge more accessible to a broader audience of users throughout the organisation.

The mobile workforce that can benefit can include executives who spend a significant amount of time in airports, on airplanes or attending meetings at remote locations, and also field personnel working inside the plant or factory. Teamcenter Mobility is designed to enable these individuals to quickly search, view and interact with product and process workflow information on the spot using a convenient mobile device.
