Siemens and APS Industrial expand relationship

Siemens has announced expansion of the APS Industrial (APS) master distributor relationship in Australia to include the reselling of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio of software which includes ‘virtual commissioning’ software.

APS will now have the ability to provide customers with digital twin capabilities when they use both hardware and software from Siemens to achieve virtual commissioning.

“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate our fifth anniversary than to announce this new extension in our relationship with Siemens,” said APS CEO David Hegarty. “It’s exciting to now be able to support the electrical and mechanical industry on their critical digital transformation journey.”

By leveraging the capabilities of Siemens’ Mechatronics Concept Designer (MCD) software, APS’s customers will be able to create a digital twin to enable virtual commissioning of machine processes. The first offering from APS will be Siemens’ Mechanical Design (which includes Solid Edge software and MCD).

“We will begin with our existing customer base largely in electrical and mechanical disciplines. However, I also see this as a great opportunity to support the important small to medium businesses in the manufacturing space,” Hegarty said. “Siemens is the largest industrial software company in the world. We feel privileged to be entrusted with being a reseller for what we consider to be the highest quality software of its type in the world. It’s the ‘go-to’ standard for industrial software.”

Combining Siemens hardware and software with the complimentary portfolio of Weidmüller and Rittal, APS says it is now able to help even more with the localised speed, flexibility and ease of doing business.

“I’m particularly impressed with the success APS has had reselling Siemens automation hardware solutions,” said Samantha Murray, who leads Siemens’ Digital Industries Software business in Australia and New Zealand. “This expertise combined now with an ability to leverage our Mechatronic Concept Designer and the virtual commissioning solution will be a winning combination. Having APS as a reseller expands the reach of our software and provides more localised support and greater access to our products.”
