The Sepam series 40 and Sepam series 80 relays fitted with the ACE850 communication interface provide a built-in solution for demanding IEC 61850 applications with: IEC 61850 logical nodes and configurable data sets to fit the needs of SCADA systems; peer-to-peer communication capabilities on Sepam series 80 with GOOSE messages to enhance protection and control systems without additional wiring; up to six concurrent IEC 61850 connections are supported.

The ACE850 has dual ethernet ports for redundancy in a star or ring connection, conforming to the RSTP 802.1d 2004 standard and allows the user to have simultaneous Modbus TCP and IEC 61850 communications in the same network.
