Pilz emergency stop button

An emergency stop button, or 'e-stop', released by Pilz, combines several features for maximum safety at the operator level, making it suitable for category 4 applications and compliant with the occupational health and safety plant regulations in all states.

The PIT e-stop incorporates a special safety contact block, which prevents contact elements being released without detection. This feature minimises the potential for unsafe machinery run-on in the event of damage to the e-stop. For added safety, the thermoplastic construction is fire resistant and self-extinguishing.

In addition to its failsafe construction, the PIT is built for durable, reliable performance. Rated to IP65, the emergency stop push-button is suitable for wet and dusty conditions.

The contact elements are gold-plated for long service life and allow currents within the safety circuit as low as 1 mA to be controlled. This makes it suitable for connection to low current safety relays, such as PNOZ Ex in intrinsically safe areas.

The block encases the contact elements to form a fixed unit so that individual elements cannot be attached incorrectly and the proper configuration is guaranteed. The compact enclosure also makes it suitable for installation on an operator panel or machinery.

The red mushroom-style button, paired with its bright safety yellow enclosure, complies with Australian legal requirements and is readily identified as a safety device. Illuminated versions will also soon be available. Other variants on the turn-to-release device include a key-to-release version for added security.
