Weidmuller SIL 3 relay for process safety systems

Created specifically for use in the emergency shutdown of plants and plant components in the process and pharmaceutical industries, Weidmuller M and MG3 type safety relays are designed to considerably increase plant availability and safety.

The devices meet the requirements of EN61508 as well as the demands of ISA S71.04-1985, Class G3.

The SIL 3 safety relays guarantee safe electrical isolation of the safety PLC to the field and initiate protective measures in the face of danger or immediately cut the energy supply.

The M and MG3 types feature a monitoring circuit for receiving signals from the field, while the MG3 also has a special coating over the electronics to protect against harsh industrial conditions. Plus, the monitoring circuit ensures feedback of voltages from 24 V to 240 VAC/DC are recognised by the controlling system.

Other features include a special input circuit to secure the circuit against test pulses generated by the DCS system and a replaceable fuse on the front panel for easy maintenance should a short circuit of the output occur.
