The AirLINE Ex Type 8650 unit is fully certified for use in explosive or hazard areas with gas or dust atmospheres. The system was developed in cooperation with Siemens, combining with Burkert technology for electropneumatic control that may be deployed directly into zone 1/21 environments (Zone 0).

Integrating a direct Profibus DP-is interface, the unit is suitable for hazardous area distributed control systems for chemicals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, solvents, alcohols, minerals and oil and gas.

The unit is configured by application and can include up to 48 valve functions and 32 electronic Siemens modules, for a maximum width of 1.07 m. The valves may be 3/2, 5/2 or dual 3/2 function with flow rates of 300 or 700 L/min. They are rated for 100% duty cycle and offer hot swap functionality, with manual override as an added safety feature.

Typically housed in a stainless steel control panel, the system delivers substantial reductions in cabinet space, wiring, documentation and validation by combining IECEx (plus EExia and FM-Ex) solenoid valves with modules from the intrinsically safe Simatic ET 200iSP system and Fieldbus communications, providing users with a complete IECEx certified turnkey solution.
