SMC Pneumatics has developed an Energy Saving Software Package which is designed to assist industry calculate the cost of compressed air and to assess cost savings associated with the implementation of proposed energy-reduction strategies.

Energy associated with compressed air generation often accounts for around 20% of the total energy consumed by an industry. Therefore, it is an important consideration for industries developing proposals and implementing energy-reduction strategies.

SMC Pneumatics offers a comprehensive range of pressure and flow measurement products to effectively measure the consumption of compressed air. If it can be measured, it can be managed, and by using the software tool it is easier to calculate compressed air costs.

The software package also prepares a report on the costs associated with compressed air usage - machine by machine, process by process.

Using the tool, it is now possible to easily calculate the cost reductions and operation effects associated with: reducing pressure; cost of leakage; correctly sizing air blow nozzles; reducing pressure drops; modifications to existing processes; reducing flow; sizing components for optimum efficiency.

A library of other calculations can also be performed, including those associated with: filtration water removal efficiency, selection of correct airline components and many other strategies.
