Volumetric feeding involves bulk material being held in a hopper and constantly fed into a process per unit of time. A gravimetric feed rate may be inferred through a calibration process where a timed sample is taken and weighed, and screw speed adjusted accordingly.

K-Tron offers a range of three volumetric feeders including the highly accurate bulk solids pump (BSP), single screw feeders and twin screw feeders. The company’s weigh feeders are available in a wide range of sizes and configurations to meet specific application requirements.

The volumetric screw feeders incorporate exchangeable screw designs to allow handling of a wide range of applications involving pre-feeding, feeding or batching of materials that have a consistent density, particle size and moisture content. Single screw feeders handle free-flowing materials such as pellets and powders, while twin screw feeders handle difficult materials such as pigments, sticky, bridging or flooding powders, fibres and fibreglass.

Bulk solids pump volumetric feeders provide gentle, precise feeding of free-flowing pellets, granules, flakes, powders and friable products.
