The Ohmart/VEGA FiberTrac 31 is a nuclear detector with a flexible scintillator, designed to be used for level measurement. It is suitable for a wide variety of liquids, bulk solids, sludge and suspensions, due to its ability to accommodate vessel geometry.

Radiation-based continuous level measurement works by directing a collimated beam of radiation through the vessel to a detector. As the process level rises, it shields the detector from the radiation. The more radiation received by the detector, the lower the process level. The less radiation detected, the higher the process level. Process level is provided in the form of a current output.

This detector works in conjunction with one or more Ohmart/VEGA source holders for effective continuous level measurement, and is suitable for use in the chemical, petrochemical, offshore, refining, power, steel, food, and pulp and paper industries.

Features include non-contact measurement up to 7 m, adaptable to all vessel shapes, and a multi-gauge communication bus that provides for level summation and additional gauges. Adjustment can be made with PLICSCOM and a PC with PactWare. Supported buses include 4-20 mA HART, Foundation fieldbus or Profibus.
