A pressure sensor is now integrated into the Festo MPA valve terminal, allowing pressures to be monitored directly over the fieldbus system. This high level of integration is a low-cost solution as it saves considerable time and money otherwise spent on a more complex installation.
The pressure sensor may be used to monitor supply or exhaust port pressure, or even an external pressure source. By monitoring the exhaust pressure, the device can detect when the exhaust silencers are becoming blocked, enabling them to be replaced before any costly machine downtime is encountered.
The sensor has four LEDs to signal errors and to indicate when the pressure is above, below or within the desired pressure range. The device also eliminates the need for an analog input card to monitor pressures, saving considerable costs relating to hardware, programming and installation.
