IMI Sensors Model 685A09 linear adjust mechanical vibration switch

Monday, 15 July, 2013

IMI Sensors’ Model 685A09 linear adjust mechanical vibration switch features an improved design that provides a better sensitivity adjustment than previously. It has been developed for use in various applications such as cooling towers, fin fans, large exhaust and vent fans, HVAC systems, blowers and motors.

Mechanical switches do not require power and use the resistive force and travel of a spring as a measure of vibration amplitude. When the travel of a spring exceeds the predetermined threshold, the switch is actuated and latched by magnetic attraction. The threshold value is adjustable by changing the proximity of the magnet to the spring and hence the spring travel required for actuation. Switch reset is accomplished manually by disengaging the magnet from the spring.

The improved design provides much better trip sensitivity adjustment than traditional designs, which allows a user to better control the trip level in the switch and improve protection of their equipment.

Some of the other benefits of the mechanical vibration switch include low-cost protection for critical machinery, better sensitivity repeatability on reset, DPDT relay, 10 A dry contact and 120, 240 VAC or 24 VDC options.
