Honeywell has announced it has added oxidation reduction potential (ORP) measurement - a key parameter for minimising corrosion in power plant equipment such as turbines and piping - to its HPW7000 high-purity water measurement system, which should enable plants to better maintain critical equipment, reduce capital expenses and lower chemical usage.

The HPW7000 is used in applications such as boiler feedwater systems in municipal utilities and large industrial plants that produce electricity from on-site power plants. Its specially designed flow chamber and electrode mounting simplify installation and calibration while providing highly accurate pH level readings. Adding the ORP electrode gives plant chemists, plant managers, maintenance engineers and safety and reliability engineers a more accurate picture of oxidation levels in high-purity water systems where the conductivity of the water samples is less than 10 µS/cm.
