Furness Controls FCO96 series laminar flow elements
The FCO96 series of laminar flow elements from Furness Controls is a range of primary flow devices for the measurement of low volume air and gas flows from 0.1 mL/min to 10,000 L/min.
The laminar flow elements provide the ability to measure accurately and repeatably the low flows encountered in sampling systems, injectors and respiration applications.
There are many applications for these laminar flow elements. These include: core porosity testing, vacuum cleaner testing, injector testing, respiration monitoring, catalytic converter testing, gas burner setting and air filtration control.
Each device is engineered to provide flow expansion/reduction chambers at the inlet/outlet, so that the flow is linear to differential pressure at the measuring points. This allows a much higher turndown to be achieved. This is an advantage a laminar flow element has over orifice plates, venturis and nozzles.
The laminar flow elements generate a low differential pressure, offering little restriction to flow. There are models available with ranges of 0-20 mL/min to 0-10,000 L/min.
Specifications include an accuracy of ±1% of reading, static pressure of 0-7 bar, and nominal differential pressures of 5-10 mmH2O. The flow elements are available in aluminium, brass, epoxy resin and steel.
