Ametek Drexelbrook Impulse Series TDR level transmitter
Ametek Drexelbrook has released the Impulse Series continuous TDR level transmitter. This guided wave radar level transmitter is designed to provide accurate total level, distance or volumetric outputs. TDR technology has been widely used in level measurement for its inherent ability to remain unaffected by variations in process materials’ electrical characteristics.
With a claimed accuracy of 3 mm, the Impulse Series transmitter provides continuous level measurement of liquids to ranges up to 15 m with a 2-wire 4-20 mA HART output signal. It has five different sensor types and is constructed of 316SS and Hastelloy C for use in environments that are classified hazardous (Class I, Div. 1) with either intrinsically safe or explosion-proof installation requirements.
The system operates in temperature ranges from -40 to 200°C and with process pressures up to 580 psig (40 bar). The system is available with either a threaded ¾″ NPT or 1-1/2” NPT or ANSI flanged process connections from 1″ through 8″ 150# and 300# ratings.
Its compact electronics comes standard with an integral display and keypad for local configuration. Internal software features support measurements of level, distance or volume. Custom characterisations for non-standard tank shapes can be set up through a 21-point strapping table.
The Impulse Series features a simple, user-friendly, easy-to-navigate configuration set-up, and no calibration or level changes are needed. Its dual compartment housing ensures dependable service by separating the wiring terminals from the intrinsically safe electronic circuitry, display and keypad.
