Active Ethernet I/O for temperature measurement

CrispTech has announced the Moxa ioLogik E2260 Active Ethernet I/O for temperature measurement. This I/O module has an embedded intelligent core kernel that performs real-time channel average and deviation calculations and reports without a need for a PC. This feature optimises device monitoring and secures facility property by providing accurate temperature monitoring for temperature-sensitive environments.

Empowered by Moxa's Click&Go logic, the module facilitates local logic control without the need for programming. The Click&Go functions as an intelligent computer for simple local control. It facilitates condition-based event reporting and active messaging using a real-time time stamp to a host controller. When the I/O device meets the criteria, it responds immediately by sending an alert or report to the control room through TCP, UDP, email, or SNMP trap

The traditional ethernet I/O architecture uses ethernet I/O servers attached to passive sensors. A host is required to poll the ethernet I/O server in order to obtain I/O status information, and the repeated request-and-response communication over the network results in a slow response time. For clients looking to improve the operational efficiency of their DA&C systems, the need for active I/O messaging and a fast I/O response time cannot be met with a traditional ethernet I/O structure.

Equipped with six RTD output channels and four digital output channels, the module is compatible with common RTD temperature sensors and resistance sensors up to 2.2 kohm. Six virtual channels are available for calculating the average value of each channel and the difference between two channels.

The module is a cost-effective solution for upgrading AI systems. The DO channels of the module make connecting to PLC systems possible and share the analog process loading of the PLC system, resulting in faster performance of AI devices without sacrificing PLC resources.
